Established in 1945 by Charles Lambert, Lambert began as—yes—an IBD. During those early years, Lambert quickly became a local leader in all things bike. The store was renowned for its top-quality service and mastery of the products it sold.
A businessman to the core, Mr. Lambert recognized the potential savings of grouping together P&A purchases with other local retailers to obtain better volume discounts directly with suppliers.
And this area of the business took off! After nearly 40 years as an IBD, Lambert realigned its business strategy in 1984 to become a full-fledged distributor of bike parts and accessories for the Canadian market.
Ownership remained within the Lambert family over the course of the following years, with Mr. Lambert’s daughter, Céline Lambert, her husband Doris Roy, and loyal associate Gilles Nadeau taking over the reigns of the company.
Following Ms. Lambert’s and Mr. Nadeau’s retirement, Lambert came under new ownership in 2006 with Roynat Capital, a member of the Scotiabank Group. The goal: to inject new resources into the company as it expanded its distribution network across Canada.
In 2008, Barrett Corporation a privately held international management Company based in Woodstock, NB, recognized Lambert’s potential and became majority stakeholder in the company.
Today, Lambert continues to be Canada's premium go-to source for bicycle P&A.
